What stays on your iPhone, what services receive, and the choices you control.
Athanly and your privacy
Athanly provides the Athanly app and this website. For privacy questions or requests, email support@athanly.app.
There is no Athanly account, advertising or tracking across other apps and websites. Your worship history is kept on your device, with private iCloud sync when active. Limited service requests and crash reports are described below.
Your records and storage
Your settings, prayer and fasting history, Sadaqah entries, Zakat payments and holdings, saved review dates, and Insight context are stored on your iPhone. Notes and circumstance labels can reveal religious or other sensitive information. This history is never sent in crash reports.
You can correct, export, restore and delete records in Settings → Storage without Athanly+. Local records remain until you delete them or remove the app. Removing the app does not delete exported files, backups or existing iCloud copies. Protect any files you export.
Private iCloud sync
In supported builds, Athanly+ can automatically enable history sync when membership first becomes active and iCloud is available, unless you previously chose otherwise. Sync uses your private Apple CloudKit database. Manage sync and the prayer, fasting, Sadaqah and Zakat categories in Settings.
Circumstance labels are excluded unless you separately include them. Turning that option off removes synced labels after the next successful sync. Turning sync or a category off pauses updates and retains existing cloud copies. Record deletions propagate when the affected category next syncs; deletion markers may remain to prevent old devices restoring deleted records. You can also manage app data in Apple’s iCloud settings.
Location and online requests
With location permission, Athanly calculates prayer times and Qibla direction on your device. Apple Maps processes city searches and coordinates used to find a city name. Always location permission allows updates after significant travel. You can choose a city manually or revoke permission in iOS Settings.
Published Swedish timetables are requested from a Supabase-hosted service using a city identifier and dates, without precise coordinates or worship history. Gold and silver quote requests go to api.gold-api.com with the metal and currency, without your holdings or payment records. These services receive normal connection information, including an IP address.
Apple Health and AI Insights
If you connect Apple Health, Athanly requests read-only sleep analysis to show rest beside Isha and Fajr. It does not write to Health. Sleep samples and derived summaries stay in short-lived device memory, expire after five minutes, and are cleared on backgrounding, disconnection or loss of access. They are excluded from exports, history sync, crash reports and remote AI requests. Revoke access in Health or iOS Settings.
On supported devices with Athanly+, AI Insights may be connected by default. Apple’s on-device model selects from verified summaries already calculated by the app, including prayer, fasting, Sadaqah and Zakat findings. These can include totals, currencies and causes. Athanly does not send them to a remote AI service. You can disconnect AI Insights in Connections.
Focus, alarms and widgets
Prayer Focus uses individual Screen Time authorization to shield your chosen apps, categories and websites. Apple’s picker provides opaque selection tokens rather than a readable list of app names or website addresses. Notifications and Fajr Wake alarms use Apple’s local notification and AlarmKit services. Widgets read shared local app data.
You control these features in Athanly and their permissions in iOS Settings. Declining a permission leaves unrelated features available.
Crash reports
Athanly has no analytics. The app automatically sends anonymous crash and hang reports to Sentry so we can fix problems; there is no switch to turn them off. They never include your records, notes, giving amounts, precise location or an Athanly identity.
Before a report leaves your iPhone, Athanly removes identity, request details, messages and stack variables. Screenshots, replay, breadcrumbs, network capture, logs and performance tracing are off. Sentry keeps reports in the EU for a limited period; contact us about a specific report.
App Store purchases
Apple handles payments and keeps purchase records under its own policies. Athanly uses verified StoreKit entitlement information to provide Athanly+ and restore purchases. It does not receive your payment-card details or Apple Account credentials.
Website, support and providers
The site does not add advertising trackers or a website analytics SDK. External links open services governed by their own policies.
If you email us, we receive your address, message and attachments. We use them to respond and resolve your request, retaining correspondence as needed for follow-up, legal obligations or disputes. Avoid sending sensitive records unless necessary.
Apple, hosting and crash-reporting providers process information for the services described here under their applicable terms and safeguards. Processing may occur outside your country. Where required, international transfers must use an adequacy decision or appropriate contractual safeguards. We do not sell personal information or use worship or Health records for advertising.
Your rights and policy updates
Where data protection law applies, processing is based on providing requested services, our legitimate interests in reliability, security and support, applicable legal duties, and consent where required. You can withdraw device permissions or disconnect optional connections; this does not undo earlier lawful processing.
You may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or transfer personal information, and to object to processing. Email support@athanly.app. We may need to verify a request and cannot retrieve records held only on your device or reliably identify unlinked reports. You can complain to your local data protection authority, including Sweden’s IMY where applicable.
We publish changes here with an updated effective date and explain material changes before they apply where required.
